Civic Works’ Center for Sustainable Careers in Baltimore seeks a Community Outreach Coordinator to expand equitable clean energy access across Central Maryland, with emphasis on Howard County. Learn more about our transformative residential energy programs at https://civicworks.com.Position Summary:The Community Outreach Coordinator will be instrumental in ensuring an equitable clean energy transition, bringing the benefits of the green economy to historically marginalized communities throughout Central Maryland, with a focus on Howard County. By engaging with residents through direct outreach and education activities at Howard County community events, the Community Outreach Coordinator will support efforts to dramatically increase the number of residents of all income levels in taking advantage of free and subsidized home energy efficiency and solar energy installation programs. Additionally, the Coordinator will build partnerships with local Howard County organizations to spread awareness of Civic Works programs through trusted community channels. They will track outreach activities, partnerships, and client interactions in Salesforce, using this data to assess impact and report results to funders. This position will allow you to engage in workplace experiences and learning initiatives that will expand your expertise which can lead to career advancement opportunities. Primary Responsibilities:1. Building & Maintaining Partnerships1. Develop mutually beneficial partnerships with community organizations and leaders to promote energy efficiency programs.2. Create referral systems with agencies that assist low- and moderate-income clients.3. Organize community events, workshops and presentations for a variety of neighborhood groups, civic associations, workplaces, and faith-based organizations.4. Regularly log community partner information and communications into Salesforce.5. Track, evaluate, and strengthen the effectiveness of the program’s partnerships.2. Direct Outreach and Education with Homeowners and Renters1. Engage with residents at community events and through phone calls to educate them about energy efficiency and solar programs, tailoring messages to their specific needs.2. Generate qualified leads for energy efficiency and solar programs, meeting monthly benchmarks.3. Inform customers about program benefits, eligibility for free and/or subsidized home upgrades, and what to expect after signing up.4. Follow up with past clients to enlist their support as program ambassadors.5. Assist customers in completing online intake applications and maintain accurate customer data in Salesforce.6. Assess outreach effectiveness to continuously improve strategies.## QualificationsEducation and Experience: * Experience with community outreach, marketing, communications, community organizing, lead generation, sales, fundraising, or other relevant work that engages diverse communities or builds relationships required.* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with the ability to regularly travel to outreach events across Central Maryland, including Baltimore, Harford, Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, and Howard Counties is required.* Familiarity with Howard County is preferred.* Experience with energy efficiency or solar energy is a plus but not required.Skills and Abilities:* Ability to explain technical information in a clear and accessible way for diverse audiences.* Strong communication skills, including verbal, interpersonal, and written communication.* Strong computer skills, including experience with CRM software and Google Workspace.* Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.* Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.* Demonstrated ability to meet goals and achieve success in independent and collaborative work settings.* Strong initiative and creativity. Ability to recognize problems, develop innovative solutions, and implement them.Work Schedule & Physical Demands:* This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position, and requires regular work during evenings and weekends to accommodate a variety of outreach activities and events.* Must be able to carry 25 pounds of outreach materials to and from events, and stand for 3 hours at a community event.* Hybrid position: The Community Outreach Coordinator will work from Civic Works’ office in Baltimore City and is eligible to work from home up to 2 days per week when not in the community. During the 90-day orientation period, additional in-office days will be required. This arrangement is subject to change based on organizational needs and may be adjusted to include additional in-person time.* The default work schedule for the Community Outreach Coordinator should align with standard business hours (approximately 8am-4pm / 9am-5pm Monday through Friday) in order to cover daily duties effectively (with reasonable flexibility to accommodate certain deadlines and personal needs).Benefits* Eligible for benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision insurance, long-term and short-term disability, life insurance, 401(k) plan with employer match, paid holidays, and paid time off.
