Civic Works in Baltimore is seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator to expand solar and energy-efficiency programs across Central Maryland. You will build partnerships, organize events, and drive outreach to diverse communities, with a hybrid work schedule and travel to outreach sites.

Qualifications

• Experience with community outreach, marketing, communications, community organizing, lead generation, sales, fundraising, or other relevant work that engages diverse communities or builds relationships required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with the ability to regularly travel to outreach events across Central Maryland, including Baltimore, Harford, Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, and Howard Counties is required.
• Familiarity with Howard County is preferred.
• Experience with energy efficiency or solar energy is a plus but not required.

Position Summary:

Civic Works’ Energy Programs make it easy and affordable for Baltimore City and Central Maryland residents to go solar, upgrade their energy efficiency, and strengthen the resilience of their homes. Through our programs, residents of all income levels lower their energy bills, improve the comfort and safety of their homes, and have a positive impact on the environment. Primary Responsibilities:

I. Building & Maintaining Partnerships

• Develop mutually beneficial partnerships with community organizations and leaders to promote energy efficiency programs.
• Create referral systems with agencies that assist low- and moderate-income clients.
• Organize community events, workshops and presentations for a variety of neighborhood groups, civic associations, workplaces, and faith-based organizations.
• Regularly log community partner information and communications into Salesforce.
• Track, evaluate, and strengthen the effectiveness of the program’s partnerships.

II. Direct Outreach and Education with Homeowners and Renters

• Engage with residents at community events and through phone calls to educate them about energy efficiency and solar programs, tailoring messages to their specific needs.
• Generate qualified leads for energy efficiency and solar programs, meeting monthly benchmarks.
• Inform customers about program benefits, eligibility for free and/or subsidized home upgrades, and what to expect after signing up.
• Follow up with past clients to enlist their support as program ambassadors.
• Assist customers in completing online intake applications and maintain accurate customer data in Salesforce.
• Assess outreach effectiveness to continuously improve strategies.

Education and Experience:

• Experience with community outreach, marketing, communications, community organizing, lead generation, sales, fundraising, or other relevant work that engages diverse communities or builds relationships required.

Work Schedule & Physical Demands:

• This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position, and requires regular work during evenings and weekends to accommodate a variety of outreach activities and events.
• Must be able to carry 25 pounds of outreach materials to and from events, and stand for 3 hours at a community event.
• Hybrid position: The Community Outreach Coordinator will work from Civic Works’ office in Baltimore City and is eligible to work from home up to 2 days per week when not in the community. During the 90-day orientation period, additional in-office days will be required. This arrangement is subject to change based on organizational needs and may be adjusted to include additional in-person time.
• The default work schedule for the Community Outreach Coordinator should align with standard business hours (approximately 8am-4pm / 9am-5pm Monday through Friday) in order to cover daily duties effectively (with reasonable flexibility to accommodate certain deadlines and personal needs).
