Job summary

The New York Botanical Garden seeks an Outreach and Education Coordinator to lead the Bronx Green-Up program, coordinating outreach, education, and training activities. The role includes organizing events, conducting workshops, managing volunteers, and handling a broad range of administrative duties.

Responsibilities include promoting composting and community greening, providing technical assistance, tracking data for reports, and delivering workshops at schools and community sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum two years in community outreach, education, or environmental programming.
• Knowledge of composting, community greening, and environmental stewardship.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience with public engagement and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Grow participation and awareness of Bronx Green-Up activities via emails, materials, and social media.
• Develop, organize, and conduct activities and events engaging the public.
• Track data for outreach, education, volunteer management, and technical assistance reports.
• Develop, coordinate, and teach workshops on compost and horticulture topics.
• Provide technical assistance and training to Bronx residents, schools, nonprofits.
• Create informational materials and recruit/train volunteers for the program.
• Perform field tasks and assist in varied weather conditions as needed.
