Job summary

The Nevada Department of Agriculture, Division of Food and Nutrition seeks a Community Nutrition Specialist for Sparks. Under the supervision of the Community Nutrition Supervisor, this role administers and manages programs like SFSP and CACFP, provides expertise on nutrition education, and ensures program compliance.

Responsibilities include evaluating applications, overseeing reviews, training sponsors, compiling data for USDA reports, and traveling to site reviews and events as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, public health, public administration, nutrition, behavioral sciences, human services or related field with three years of professional experience.
  • Alternative: three years as School/Community Nutrition Program Coordinator II in Nevada State service or equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage USDA nutrition programs (SFSP, CACFP, NSLP, SBP) and related grants.
  • Provide technical assistance to sponsors and operators; interpret federal/state regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Train sponsors and staff; monitor program reviews and provide follow‑up actions.
  • Collect, analyze, and report nutrition data; prepare information for USDA and other reports.
  • Travel to site reviews, conferences, and meetings as needed.
