Job summary

The City and County of Broomfield is seeking a Part-Time Nutrition Program Specialist to assist with the cooking and meal preparation and provide operational and clerical support across nutrition programs. This role serves as backup for fully staffed positions and supports volunteer oversight and training content.

The incumbent will handle front-line administrative tasks, answer phones, manage lunch lists, and assist with patron registrations to keep Meals on Wheels and Lakeshore Cafe running

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; data entry, simple bookkeeping, and filing coursework preferred.
• Two years cooking and food preparation experience in a commercial kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide backup coverage for FT Nutrition Program Specialist, Meals on Wheels Technician, and Dishwasher/Kitchen Assistant as needed.
• Prepare daily meals for Lakeshore Cafe.
• Coordinate dining room setup and oversee volunteers.
• Perform daily kitchen cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
• Submit repair work orders and alert supervisor to equipment issues.
• Assemble meals for Meals on Wheels program.
• Track volunteer hours and communicate shifts to volunteers.
• Assist with program surveys, donor letters, reports, and grant information.
• Assist with kitchen volunteer training and content creation.
• May conduct kitchen tours, interviews, and community outreach.
• Coordinate Blizzard Bags and Closure Bags for Meals on Wheels program.
• Monitor expenditures and ensure budget compliance.
• Answer inquiries from customers in a timely manner.
• Ensure safety protocols and equipment use are followed.
• Operate dishwasher and maintain kitchen tools and spaces.
