Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support Clubhouse members in all areas of the work-ordered day.
  • Provide employment support services across transitions (Transitional, Supported, Independent).
  • Provide job coaching and benefits counseling as needed.
  • Serve as primary staff contact for assigned members; plan goals and coordinate services.
  • Write contact notes and reports in the electronic health record system.
  • Facilitate discussion groups and outings; maintain a welcoming environment.
  • Drive the agency van when needed.

Bay Cove Human Services’ mission is to partner with people to overcome challenges and realize personal potential. Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and southeastern Massachusetts.

Job Summary

The Community Mental Health Worker partners with Clubhouse members in a recovery-oriented environment that promotes self-help, peer support, and empowerment. This position supports members in achieving their individualized goals related to employment, education, housing stability, social connection, wellness, and community integration through direct support, coaching, advocacy, and skill-building activities.

This is a non-exempt position.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • None
Essential Functions of Position
  • Work side by side with Clubhouse members and give support in all areas of participating in the Clubhouse’s work-ordered day (Employment/education unit, membership unit, and culinary unit)
  • Provide employment support services for members involved in all types of employment: Transitional, Supported, and Independent.
  • Provide job coaching
  • Assist Clubhouse members in understanding their benefits and if needed receiving benefits counseling
  • Serve as primary staff contact for assigned Clubhouse members, providing ongoing support, goal planning, advocacy, and coordination of services.
  • Provide outreach services to Clubhouse members
  • Collaborate with Clubhouse members to develop individualized goals, action plans, and progress reviews that support recovery and community integration.
  • Write contact notes, incident reports, and complete contact tracking according to funding sources timeline using the electronic health record system
  • Provide supportive interventions, crisis support, and referral coordination consistent with training and program requirements.
  • Together with Clubhouse members facilitate discussion groups and outings
  • Assist in maintaining a welcoming, safe, and organized Clubhouse environment.
  • Drive the agency van when needed
Requirements for the position
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in human services, and at least one year’s experience working with adults with psychiatric disabilities preferred. Bachelor's degree may be waived by two additional years of experience.
  • Ability to relate to individuals who possess a wide range of abilities and skills
  • Ability to relate to groups of all sizes

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities/ multi-task, and display good judgment
  • Proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
