Job Description

ABOUT THE IDEA KITCHEN

The Idea Kitchen is a coworking, meeting, and event space in the heart of Larchmont, a few minutes' walk from the Metro-North station. We offer private offices, dedicated desks, meeting rooms, and virtual office and mailbox services to a community of freelancers, remote employees, small businesses, and a host of professionals looking for an alternative to the commute and the isolation of working from home. We're not a national chain. We're a neighborhood space, and our members notice the difference in how it feels to walk through our door. Professional. Flexible. Local.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Community Manager is the person who makes The Idea Kitchen feel like The Idea Kitchen. You're the first face members see in the morning and the person they trust to handle whatever comes up during the day: a mail question, a booking conflict, a leaky faucet, a prospective member touring the space. You take pride in a space that looks and feels immaculate, and you take even more pride in members feeling genuinely looked after.

This is a full-time, in-person role. You'll be on-site five days a week, running the day-to-day of the space from open to close, and you'll be the single point of continuity for our members, not a rotating cast of part-time staff. Over time, you'll know our members by name, by business, and by what they need before they ask.

You should expect to wear a lot of hats in a single day – concierge, problem-solver, tour guide, light maintenance crew, and community host. If that variety energizes you rather than overwhelms you, this role is built for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Hospitality – Your Primary Focus

  • Be the warm, consistent face of the space, greeting members and guests by name. Noticing when someone's had a rough day or a big win. Your discretion is a no-so-secret superpower.

  • Keep the space guest-ready at all times: tidy common areas, stocked kitchen and coffee station, clean restrooms, and a welcoming reception.

  • Check in with members proactively rather than waiting for complaints – catch small frustrations before they become reasons to leave.

  • Resolve member issues and conflicts calmly and promptly, and know when to escape versus handle it yourself.

  • Plan and run community events and small touches that make members feel this is their space, not just an address.

  • Handle the less glamorous tasks, including restocking supplies, minor tidying, coordinating with cleaning and maintenance vendors, often without being asked. And never twice.

Operations

  • Run daily on-site operations: room bookings, mail and package handling, and day-to-day facilities issues.

  • Enforce membership policies consistently and equitably across all members.

  • Maintain relationships with third-party vendors (cleaning, maintenance, security).

  • Communicate clearly and regularly with ownership on what's working, what isn't, and what members are saying.

  • Use and help maintain our internal tools (membership management platform, mail portal, booking system, digital signage) to keep operations running smoothly.

Sales & Growth

  • Tour and sell prospective members on The Idea Kitchen memberships and space.

  • Manage inbound leads and follow-up in our systems.

  • Proactively check in with existing members to understand evolving needs and support retention.

  • Support revenue growth through ancillary services (mail, printing, meeting room use) without making members feel upsold.

MUST-HAVES

  • Customer-facing experience in hospitality, retail, real estate, sales, or a similar service environment. Coworking experience is a strong plus.

  • 18+, legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple things at once.

  • Basic financial literacy (billing, invoicing, reporting).

  • Comfortable being on your feet and moving around the space throughout the day.

  • A genuine, low-ego willingness to do whatever the space needs that day, from closing a sale to wiping down a counter.

YOU MIGHT BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU ARE

  • Collaborative and people-oriented

  • Outgoing, but equally comfortable working independently

  • Calm under pressure and tolerant of an unpredictable day

  • Detail-oriented, often noticing what needs doing before being asked

  • Proud of creating a
