Job description

The Community Company is building a new way to form meaningful professional relationships.

Our members are venture capitalists, LPs, founders, and investors who want something deeper than conferences, happy hours, and traditional networking events. We create genuine connection through intimate dinners, curated experiences, private trips, and highly engaged communities.

Today, we operate several private membership communities, including:

  • Aces: A curated network of venture capitalists
  • Insiders: A community of LPs and capital allocators

Our events range from 8-12 person dinners hosted in private homes to multi-day retreats in destinations like Montana, Jackson Hole, and beyond.

We're a small, ambitious team based in Venice Beach, and we're looking for our first dedicated Community Manager to help us scale the experience our members love.

The Opportunity

We're hiring a Founding Community Manager to help run the day-to-day operations of our communities and experiences.

This role sits at the intersection of:

  • Community Building
  • Events & Hospitality
  • Operations
  • Member Experience

You'll work closely with our leadership team to coordinate events, engage members, manage logistics, and ensure every interaction feels thoughtful, polished, and personal.

This is not a traditional corporate role.

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys connecting people, can juggle a lot of moving pieces, and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment where ownership is expected from day one.

What You'll Do
Event Planning & Execution
  • Research and secure venues, hosts, chefs, restaurants, and vendors
  • Manage invitations, RSVPs, logistics, and attendee communications
  • Help plan and execute multi-day community retreats and trips
  • Troubleshoot event issues and ensure exceptional member experiences
Community Operations
  • Help manage day-to-day community engagement across WhatsApp groups
  • Support member onboarding and relationship-building efforts
  • Conduct member interviews and gather content for community discussions and newsletters
  • Track engagement and ensure members stay connected and involved
Member Experience
  • Build relationships with founders, investors, LPs, and community members
  • Conduct one‑on‑one member outreach and check‑ins
  • Serve as a welcoming, trusted point of contact for members
  • Identify opportunities to improve the overall community experience
Operations & Special Projects
  • Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously across communities
  • Manage logistics, timelines, and vendor communications
  • Create event materials and member communications using tools such as Canva
  • Leverage AI tools to improve efficiency and execution
  • Take ownership of initiatives and solve problems independently
What Success Looks Like

Within your first 90 days, you will:

  • Begin taking ownership of key event logistics and planning responsibilities
  • Reduce operational burden on leadership
  • Build relationships with members and become a trusted community presence
  • Successfully support multiple events simultaneously
  • Demonstrate strong judgment, organization, and follow‑through

Within your first year, you will:

  • Own significant portions of our member experience and event operations
  • Become a critical operator across multiple communities
  • Help shape how The Community Company grows and scales
Who Thrives Here

You're likely a fit if you are:

  • Highly organized and detail‑oriented
  • Naturally personable and easy to talk to
  • Curious about people and relationships
  • Comfortable interacting with successful founders, investors, and executives
  • Resourceful and able to figure things out independently
  • Passionate about creating exceptional experiences
  • Excited by startups, ownership, and rapid learning

You may come from:

  • Community Management
  • Event Planning
  • Hospitality
  • Startup Operations
  • Program Coordination
  • Membership Organizations
  • Customer Success
  • Alumni Relations
  • Or an unconventional path that demonstrates leadership and initiative
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 0-5 years of professional experience
  • Experience coordinating events, programs, or community initiatives
  • Experience using Canva, ChatGPT, and modern productivity tools
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at once
  • Passion for community-building and relationship development
  • Potential flexibility for exceptional candidates
  • Health insurance
  • Meaningful ownership and responsibility from day one
  • Direct exposure to top investors, LPs, founders, and operators
  • Team retreats and unique experiences
  • Opportunity to help build a company and community from the ground up
Location

Venice, California

This is primarily an in‑person role. We believe the best community experiences are built together, and this role works closely with the team from our Venice office. Limited flexibility may be available for exceptional candidates.

Our Hiring Process
  • Introductory conversation
  • Work sample or project exercise
  • In‑person interview
  • Final conversation and offer

We move quickly and aim to complete the process in 2-3 weeks.

Why Join Us?

Most early‑career roles give you a small piece of a large machine.

This role is different.

You’ll help create experiences, build relationships, shape communities, and work directly alongside ambitious founders and operators. You’ll own meaningful work early, learn quickly, and have the opportunity to help build something that people genuinely care about.

If that sounds exciting, we’d love to meet you.
