Job summary

Florence County Public Library in Pamplico seeks a Library Assistant to support circulation, reference, programs, and related duties.

You will greet patrons, handle check-ins/outs, assist with computers and catalog, create displays, help with programs, and participate in outreach activities. The role requires a high school diploma and 1-2 years in library or customer service; evenings and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; 1-2 years in library or customer service preferred.
• Proficient with computers and standard office software.
• Ability to assist patrons with library resources and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Greets patrons and maintains a welcoming library atmosphere.
• Provides exceptional customer service to external and internal customers. Responds to and resolves patron questions or concerns.
• Checks materials in and out, creates and updates patron accounts, shelves materials, and assists patrons in finding materials.
• Packs and unpacks courier deliveries; processes donated materials.
• Assists patrons with public computers, online catalog, and other library equipment and resources.
• Creates displays, bulletin boards, and other activities promoting the library, literacy, and reading.
• Assists in conducting library programs for patrons of all ages, including children, teens, adults, and seniors.
• Assists in conducting community outreach activities.
• Participates in the library’s ongoing training program.
