Job summary

Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens seeks a Community Liaison to support housing development and public service programs. You will work with City agencies, residents, schools, and community organizations to obtain participation and coordinate outreach.

Under direction, you will supervise staff, prepare reports, explain programs to community groups, and help plan and implement activities. Work 9:00 A.M–5:00 P.M with rotating weekends and holidays (35 hours per week).

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of full-time experience in counseling, community work or community health activities.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the above. Completion of a six-month training program may substitute six months of experience.
• Preference given to applicants with at least a high school diploma or educational equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Liaises between City agencies, residents, and community organizations.
• Interviews residents, landlords, government personnel, and others to solicit support for programs.
• Explains programs and policies to community groups and interprets information from the community.
• Supervises staff or coordinates field office operations.
• Prepares and maintains reports and records related to programs.
