Job summary

Yona in Colchester, CT is seeking a Cook to join the team and provide warm, friendly dining experiences for residents, visitors, and coworkers. You will prepare meals, follow menus, and ensure quality and safety in every dish.

As part of the kitchen, you will maintain sanitation standards, manage portioning, and collaborate with the food services director to deliver meals on schedule and with consistency.

Qualifications

• Must have proven experience as a cook.
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines.
• Ability to prepare meals according to recipes.
• Experience operating cookware and kitchen appliances.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Good physical stamina to stand for long shifts.
• High school diploma or equivalent; food service certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all food according to the menu in a safe, sanitary manner.
• Ensure proper portioning and serving of foods according to recipes.
• Prepare quality food products according to menus.
• Adhere to all safety and sanitation standards.
• Prepare food in a timely manner at specified meal times.

• Clean all kitchen equipment and storage areas.
• Label and date stored foods; prevent contamination and waste.
• Suggest menu changes to use leftovers and supplies.
