Job summary

City of Chesapeake Virginia is seeking a Community Programs Resource Specialist to join Chesapeake Thrives. You will work closely with individuals and families, assess needs, create tailored service plans, coordinate with local agencies, and advocate for timely, equitable, person-centered support.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, at least one year of experience in human services, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field including Social Work, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology or a related field.
• Minimum of one year of full-time equivalent experience in human services or a related area.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record in accordance with City Driving Standards.

Responsibilities

• Assess needs and develop tailored service plans for individuals and families.
• Coordinate with local agencies to streamline access to essential services.
• Advocate to ensure timely, equitable, and person-centered support.
• Maintain fieldwork, outreach activities and data tracking as part of service delivery.
