Description
About Grotto

Grotto Social Baths is Miami's first modern social bathhouse—a communal wellness destination rooted in the timeless traditions of contrast therapy, sauna culture, and intentional gathering. Opening Fall 2026 in the heart of Wynwood, Grotto is designed for connection, not escape.

We offer a vibrant, high-touch environment where members and guests come together to sweat, plunge, and restore—together. Every aspect of the journey encourages guests to slow down, rediscover themselves, and find genuine human presence.

At Grotto, we hire for hospitality first. While specific operational skills are easily taught, a sincere and natural care for others is an essential quality our team must possess from day one.

The Role

The Community Host is the first face of Grotto—the person who sets the tone for every visit. You make every guest feel like they belong here before they've even changed into a robe.

As the initial and final point of contact, you ensure that the journey begins and ends with warmth. You are the gateway to our community, turning what could be a simple entry into a meaningful welcome.

This role sits at the intersection of hospitality and membership. You aren't just checking people in; you're recognizing returning members, orienting newcomers, and ensuring every interaction is grounded in connection rather than just a transaction.

Whether a guest arrives with excitement or a bit of nervous curiosity, your primary objective is to make them feel entirely at ease and welcomed into the fold.

You will serve as a knowledgeable guide, helping guests navigate our membership options and bathhouse rituals. By building trust through authentic conversation, you naturally identify those ready to deepen their relationship with Grotto.

The Community Host reports to the General Manager and works closely with the Membership Director and the full front-of-house team.

Core Responsibilities

Check-In & Front Desk Operations

  • Welcome every guest warmly and by name when possible; first impressions define the Grotto experience
  • Manage the reception flow with precision: handle check-ins, verify bookings, process payments, and facilitate retail transactions
  • Ensure first-time visitors are fully oriented to the space and feel comfortable before they begin their thermal circuit
  • Answer phones and digital inquiries, serving as an expert on Grotto's offerings, memberships, and schedules
  • Maintain a front desk atmosphere that remains calm and unhurried, even during peak capacity periods
Guest Relations & Hospitality
  • Cultivate authentic relationships with our member community and frequent guests
  • Hone your memory for faces and personal details, ensuring guests feel known and valued beyond a digital profile
  • Anticipate needs proactively—noticing when a guest looks confused or could use extra assistance before they have to ask
  • Facilitate introductions to membership through thoughtful, low-pressure dialogue that centers on the guest's wellness journey
  • Collect and relay qualitative guest feedback to help the leadership team continuously refine the Grotto experience
Facility Awareness & Communication
  • Stay fully briefed on daily operations, including capacity levels, special events, and programming schedules
  • Communicate proactively with Experience Guides, Housekeepers, and Café staff to ensure a seamless flow for guests
  • Oversee the presentation of the entry and reception areas, ensuring they remain tidy, organized, and welcoming
  • Manage administrative duties including opening and closing protocols and maintaining front-of-house supplies
  • Develop deep expertise in sauna culture and contrast therapy to act as a trusted resource for every visitor
Administrative Support
  • Support the entire team by jumping in wherever help is needed to maintain service excellence
  • Work across departments to ensure the member journey is fluid and cohesive from arrival to departure
  • Participate in pre-shift huddles, contributing fresh ideas to improve our operational rhythm and hospitality standards
  • Foster a supportive workplace culture where teammates feel as cared for as our guests
Attributes
Memory for faces and names

You remember personal details from past conversations, making guests feel recognized as individuals rather than just processed arrivals.

Genuinely welcoming

You have a natural ability to put people at ease. Whether they are founding members or first-timers, people feel comfortable in your presence.

Calm at the front line

A busy reception area doesn't ruffle you. You stay composed and organized, ensuring every person feels like they have your undivided attention.

Naturally curious about people

You enjoy connecting with others. You ask thoughtful questions and listen intently, intuitively knowing when to offer conversation and when to provide a quiet greeting.

Operationally sharp

You notice the small things—straightening a robe or tidying the lounge—because you believe true hospitality lives in the details.

Community-minded

You understand that belonging is built through hundreds of tiny interactions that make guests want to return again and again.

Team-first mentality

No task is too small. You assist your teammates whenever necessary, knowing that great guest experiences are always a collective effort.
