Job summary

Aawellness seeks a Community Health Advocate to join our research team in Houston, TX. You will engage directly with community members, assess study eligibility, and guide participants through enrollment with sensitivity to culture and language.

This in-person role requires building trust with clinics and local groups, providing ongoing support, addressing barriers like transportation, and coordinating outreach activities, including some weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and cultural competency skills.
• Experience with diverse community populations or outreach.
• Ability to build trust quickly in community settings.
• Problem-solving to address barriers to participation.
• Ability to manage multiple outreach efforts independently.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Responsibilities

• Actively engage with community members in various local settings to inform them about the research study and assess eligibility criteria.
• Build trusted relationships with community organizations, clinics, and leaders to support outreach efforts.
• Assist interested individuals through the enrollment process, including scheduling and follow-up communications.
• Conduct face-to-face outreach, provide informational sessions, and distribute study materials in person, some weekends and evenings.
• Explain the purpose, procedures, benefits, and potential risks of the study in clear, culturally sensitive language.
• Coordinate with community-based organizations and healthcare providers to facilitate smooth participation.
• Work daily with community organizations, clinics, and local leaders to foster trust and promote study participation.
