Job summary

Unity Health Care in Washington, DC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide essential patient care and clinical support in a community health center. You will work under the Nurse Manager and Health Center Director to support safe, efficient patient-centered care.

You will document histories, vital signs, and prepare patients and EHRs for visits, assist during examinations, perform routine procedures, coordinate referrals, and support follow-up and discharge activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program with a diploma.
• Current CMA or RMA certification.
• Current BLS + AED CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain patient and EHR confidentiality.
• Prepare patients and EHRs for provider visits.
• Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures.
• Accurately obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, histories for patients.
• Perform routine laboratory and intake procedures including phlebotomy and injections.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of medical areas.
• Restock medical supplies and materials.
• Assist with Pre-Visit Planning and PCMH teams.
• Provide basic chronic disease health education.
• Coordinate referrals and scheduling of appointments.
• Obtain authorizations and follow up on attendance.
• Communicate with patients and assist with discharge.
