Job summary

American Heart Association in Iowa City / Quad Cities area is seeking a Community Impact Director to advance heart-health initiatives through partnerships with community leaders, volunteers, and businesses. You will drive policy, systems, and environmental changes to improve health outcomes.

The role involves recruiting and leading volunteers, measuring program impact, and representing the organization at local events, with travel and community engagement at the forefront of daily duties.

Qualifications

• 3 years of relevant experience with community/public health issues and/or managing community/public health programs.
• University/College degree or equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to recruit, mobilize and manage volunteers, including C-suite level executives.
• Effective relationship management with the ability to gain trust and influence.
• Self-starter who works well in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to drive toward results.
• Proven ability to apply marketing insights to develop strategies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tasks and tools.
• Ability to travel daily ~25% with some overnight travel, reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift/move large objects when needed.

Responsibilities

• Develops and nurtures relationships with businesses, healthcare providers, community organizations, and government agencies to promote heart health.
• Drives heart-health-focused policy, systems, and environmental changes in the market.
• Recruits, trains, and manages volunteers and community alliances to support impact goals.
• Implements and tracks performance metrics for community impact programs.
• Acts as subject matter expert in AHA initiatives for community engagement.
• Coordinates health education initiatives and public awareness campaigns.
• Collaborates on sponsorship or funding initiatives and engages in revenue-related activities.
• Represent the organization at community gatherings, events, and forums.
