Job summary

The City of Raleigh Parks Department seeks a self-motivated individual to support community gardens and health and wellness programs. You will assist with garden maintenance, volunteer coordination, program preparation, participant engagement, and data collection across garden sites and wellness events.

This role involves collaboration with staff, volunteers, gardeners, and community partners, with some evenings and weekends as scheduled and regular travel between Raleigh Parks facilities.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in gardening, horticulture, parks and recreation, community health, or related field.
• Ability to perform physical outdoor work and assist with setup/breakdown of program materials.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on maintenance at community garden sites including planting, watering, weeding, and harvests.
• Support garden activities, volunteer events, and workshops.
• Assist with rental beds and gardener onboarding; monitor shared garden areas.
