Job summary

Conifer Realty in Plainfield, NJ is seeking a Leasing Specialist to help residents find welcoming, affordable homes, conduct tours, and support compliance across LIHTC and HUD programs.

You will market available units, process applications, renewals, rent collections, and deliver exceptional customer service while coordinating with maintenance and office teams. A high school diploma is required; Yardi experience preferred; bilingual Spanish/English a plus; growth opportunities available.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of apartment leasing experience preferred.
• 1 year experience with affordable housing programs (LIHTC, HUD-Section 8, HOME, RD) required.
• Familiarity with Fair Housing and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Yardi or similar property management software.
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Basic math and data-entry abilities for rent collection and recordkeeping.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are a plus.
• High school diploma or GED required; COS or TCS certification desired or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Greet prospective residents, conduct tours, and highlight features of Conifer communities.
• Drive occupancy – market available units, respond to inquiries, and manage leasing applications and renewals.
• Ensure compliance – process applications and recertifications under LIHTC, HUD, or other programs.
• Deliver exceptional service – assist residents with rent collection, service requests, and community communications.
• Support teamwork – collaborate with maintenance and office staff to maintain high standards for property appearance and safety.
• Stay organized – manage reports, filing, and data entry to keep operations running smoothly.
