Job summary

Popcorn for the People is seeking an organized, community-focused Event Manager to coordinate festivals, vendor opportunities, community events, and promotional activities throughout Philadelphia and surrounding area. The role requires a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, local travel, and the ability to work a variable schedule including evenings and weekends.

This part-time, hybrid position offers hands-on event planning experience and opportunities to engage with diverse community

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.
• Ability to travel locally throughout Philadelphia and surrounding area.
• Ability to transport products, merchandise, equipment, and event materials.
• Ability to work a variable schedule based on event and operational needs.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Preferred: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in hospitality, event management, marketing, business administration, or related field.
• Preferred: Two+ years of experience coordinating events, community outreach, or related customer-facing work.
• Preferred: Experience supervising or coordinating employees, support staff, or volunteers.
• Preferred: Experience using Point-of-Sale systems or iPads in retail or event environments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with supportive partners on events for Popcorn for the People employees.
• Attend seasonally, monthly, and annually occurring events and festivals.
• Assist in securing inventory with production facility.
• Train employees and support staff on mission, event setup, stocking of merchandise, sales techniques, and POS iPad processing.
• Approve all aspects before the day of the event.
• Ensure the event is completed smoothly and manage issues that arise.
• Make deliveries to vendors and stores as needed.
