Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main local contact for in-person volunteer events across Columbia or Luzerne counties, coordinating and supporting delivery of events and workshops while driving participation.
  • Lead, coordinate and facilitate groups of corporate volunteers, providing guidance and support throughout their volunteering experience.
  • Support development of relationships with external vendors, community stakeholders, nonprofits, and corporate volunteers.
  • Plan and implement community-based programs in line with standards and objectives.
  • Use coaching, communication and facilitation skills to engage volunteers and address challenges.
  • Promote employee involvement via newsletters, social media, blogs, and internal emails.
  • Assist with planning and admin tasks for volunteer and community events execution.
  • Measure and report on program outcomes and social impact.
  • Occasional travel to other US cities for team offsites may be required.
  • Evenings and weekends work may be needed and will be compensated.

VOLIES is hiring a full-time Community Engagement &VolunteerCoordinator

Location:Columbia or Luzerne counties, Pennsylvania

At VOLIES, we’re looking for a passionate, organized, and people-oriented professional to join our global team as a Community Engagement & Volunteer Coordinator.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position focused on supporting corporate volunteering and community engagement programs in partnership with a multinational technology company based in Columbia or Luzerne counties, Pennsylvania and surrounding areas.

About the Role

We are looking for a professional with stronggroup coordination, coaching and program management skills, combined with experience in community engagement, volunteer management, andeventcoordination.

The role will involve coordinating community engagement and corporate volunteering projects while playing a key role in engaging, guiding and supporting groups of corporate volunteers throughout their volunteering experience.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable in facilitating groups, building trust, addressing challenges and helping volunteers work effectively toward a common goal. They should be able to combine a collaborative and empathetic approach with the ability to set expectations, provide guidance, manage difficult situations and ensure a positive and productive volunteer experience.

The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, including corporate employees, nonprofit organizations, community partners and internal teams.

The position will have a flexible schedule structured around project deliverables, events and key milestones. Working hours will be defined collaboratively with the client and may vary depending on program needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate and facilitate groups of corporate volunteers, providing guidance and support throughout their volunteering experience and helping create a positive and collaborative group dynamic.
  • Support the development of strong relationships with external vendors, community stakeholders, nonprofit organizations, and corporate volunteers.
  • Plan and implement community-based programs in line with established standards and project objectives.
  • Use coaching, communication and facilitation skills to engage volunteers, manage different personalities and expectations, and address challenges or conflicts that may arise within volunteer groups.
  • Use various communication channels (newsletters, social media, blogs, internal emails) to promote employee involvement in community engagement activities, in line with client requirements.
  • Support the planning and admin tasks involved in the volunteer events and community events execution.
  • Measure and report on program outcomes and social impact.
  • Occasional travel to other cities in the US for team offsites may be required.
  • Working on evenings and weekends in volunteer events might be needed occasionally and will be compensated during other weekdays.
Basic Qualifications
  • Residency in Columbia or Luzerne counties, Pennsylvania or surrounding areas.
  • Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and have their own car.
  • University degree (bachelor's and/or Master’s) in Event Management, Political Science, Communications, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Education, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Volunteerism, community engagement, social impact positions, event management, or related fields.
  • Previous experience working with community events, social impact initiatives, and/or corporate volunteering programs.
  • Experience leading, coordinating, facilitating or coaching groups of volunteers, employees, community members or other participants.
  • Strong project coordination, communication, stakeholder engagement and group facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage group dynamics, address challenging situations and build constructive relationships with diverse participants.
  • Background in project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in corporate environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of local community dynamics and resources.
  • Experience with event planning and coordination.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, group facilitation or volunteer management.
  • Familiarity with data collection and analysis tools.
Working Conditions

Full-time position: 40 hours per week

Working agreement, hybrid:
  • Homeworking
  • Attendance in average 3 times a week to in-person meetings or events with NGOs, client´s offices or other partners in the priority locations

A great part of the role consists of attending community projects and volunteering events in different locations. A specific area will be identified as the central working area (with a 45‑minute drive spread) and millage outside that will be covered as well as hotels/meals on occasional long travels if needed.
