Job summary

McLaren Health Plan in Michigan is seeking a Community Engagement Specialist to lead outreach efforts across the state, promote plan services, and help grow membership. The role emphasizes collaboration with community partners and travel to communities, including Flint, to build lasting relationships.

You will typically work full-time, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and must bring an Associate degree with experience in health care outreach or related fields.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in business, health care or related field; or High School Diploma with two years’ health care outreach experience.
• Two years’ experience in community-focused outreach, marketing, or customer service in health care.
• Must hold a valid Community Health Worker certification within 180 days of hire and maintain throughout employment.

Responsible for achieving established goals improving the Plan’s Membership growth for all lines of business. The Community Engagement Specialist will promote the Plan’s core values and services by implementing outreach activities in assigned area. The position is responsible for assisting the Plan in
attracting and retaining membership in the Plan through efforts including building and maintaining relationships with community partners.

This position requires travel to communities around the State of Michigan, including days in Flint, MI office as determined by leadership.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Associate degree in business, health care or related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and two (2) years’ experience in a community-focused outreach, marketing, or customer service position specific to health care.
• Two (2) years’ experience in a community-focused outreach, marketing, or customer service position specific to health care.
• Valid state driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance coverage required and maintained throughout employment in this position.
• Must hold a valid Community Health Worker certification within 180 days of hire and maintain throughout employment in this position.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in business, health care or related field.
• Five (5) years’ experience in a community-focused outreach, marketing, or customer service position specific to health care.
