As part of our mission to enhance community engagement and student experience in US education, we are seeking a passionate and innovative Community Engagement Specialist. This role is pivotal in leading initiatives that connect students, families, and staff, fostering a vibrant and inclusive community at King’s InterHigh USA. Reporting to the Head of Community Life, the Community Engagement Specialist will spearhead programs that enhance student life, support teacher collaboration, and strengthen family involvement.

This is a remote position, with the occasional need to travel to Washington, D.C. to engage directly with colleagues and foster strong professional relationships. Occasional travel domestically or abroad may also be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assembly Lead

  • Design and coordinate engaging assemblies that inspire students and build school spirit.
  • Support and mentor students in leading presentations and activities, fostering leadership and public speaking skills.
  • Integrate cultural, academic, and social themes to broaden students’ perspectives and encourage global awareness.

Advisory Lead

  • Provide training, guidance, and resources to teachers to enhance their role as advisors.
  • Continuously monitor and refine advisory program, ensuring it effectively supports students' social and academic growth.
  • Act as a liaison between students, families, and advisors, ensuring clear communication and a strong support system.

Family Engagement Co-Lead

  • Plan, organize, and facilitate meaningful in-person and virtual family events, fostering strong school-community connections.
  • Develop strategies to enhance family involvement, keeping them engaged in students’ academic and personal growth.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for families, ensuring they feel supported and connected to the school.

Whole School Initiatives Co-Lead

  • Lead school-wide service projects that promote student engagement and a commitment to social responsibility.
  • Implement wellness and mental health initiatives, ensuring a balanced and supportive school environment.
  • Partner with faculty and staff to create inclusive school-wide programs that reflect student needs and interests.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop engaging co-curricular activities, diverse clubs and enrichment opportunities that complement academics.
  • Encourage student leadership and participation in enrichment activities that provide social and emotional growth.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Work closely with school leadership to design and implement initiatives that enhance the student experience.
  • Actively engage with prospective and current families, fostering relationships to support student retention.
  • Represent Inspired Online Schools at in-person and virtual events, promoting the school’s mission and values.
  • Adapt to evolving needs of the school community and take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, sociology, human development, or a related field (master’s preferred).
  • 2-3 years of experience in community engagement, student affairs, learning and development, or a related role, ideally in an online or hybrid school setting.
  • Proven success in developing and implementing programs that foster a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging school community.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build meaningful connections with students, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience planning and executing events, programs, and assemblies that promote student leadership, well-being, and social responsibility.
  • Strong ability to train and support educators in advisory roles, ensuring they are equipped to effectively mentor and guide students.
  • Highly developed organizational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives and collaborate across departments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovation and adaptability, with experience navigating a fast-paced online learning environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently while excelling in a hybrid remote/in-office team environment, maintaining proactive communication and collaboration.
  • Strategic mindset in driving student retention and school enrollment, with a focus on strengthening student and family connections.
  • Strong alignment with the mission of Inspired Online Schools, with a dedication to providing high-quality digital education.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the U.S. and abroad as needed.
