Job summary

Arts & Science Council (ASC) in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Community Engagement Specialist to coordinate ASC’s community engagement programs, learning experiences, and volunteer initiatives. The role acts as operational hub translating priorities into clear project plans, timelines, and partner coordination systems.

The Specialist will support donor and stakeholder events, coordinate across departments, and ensure timely execution of civic-engagement efforts, training workshops, and public art

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in program coordination, event operations, community engagement, nonprofit project management, or related work.
• Ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, timelines, and dependencies.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, including trackers, checklists, and follow-up systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience supporting events, trainings, workshops, donor/stakeholder convenings, or civic engagement programs.

Responsibilities

• Operate and plan community engagement programs and initiatives.
• Coordinate Learning Programs, including logistics, materials, and communications.
• Manage ASC’s volunteer engagement program and related processes.
• Support donor and stakeholder engagement events and related activities.
• Assist with major civic engagement events and government-partner activities.
• Coordinate cross-department projects and ensure clear ownership and handoffs.
• Develop event readiness systems and post-event documentation.
