Job summary

The Brooklyn Borough President’s Office is seeking a Community Affairs Organizer to develop outreach strategies across Brooklyn, engaging residents and community groups while reporting to the Director of Community Affairs.

The role emphasizes building relationships with partner organizations, coordinating events from parades to block parties, and maintaining outreach databases, with flexibility to work nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related community work, or a high school diploma with 6+ years of related experience.
• Equivalent education/experience to options 1 or 2, with at least 1 year of experience in community work.
• Must be able to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a proactive approach to community projects.
• Research and identify appropriate partners to strengthen community relationships.
• Increase the Borough President’s office visibility at community and outreach events.
• Conduct outreach for activities including parades, holiday events, block parties, marches, tabling, schools, faith-based organizations.
• Report information about community issues to Director and stakeholders, and develop recommendations.
• Build and maintain a database of community partners and leaders.
• Implement document management protocols for reports and confidential information.
• Collaborate with other teams on community-related items.
