Job summary

The Brooklyn Borough President’s Office is seeking a Community Affairs Organizer to identify community needs and develop outreach strategies across Brooklyn. The role emphasizes building relationships with community organizations, government agencies, schools, and faith-based groups to advance the office’s mission.

The organizer will maintain a flexible schedule to work nights and weekends, manage partnerships, and support special projects in collaboration with the Director of Community Affairs.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree and two years of community work or related activities.
  • High school diploma and six years of related experience.
  • Education/experience equivalent to 1 or 2 with at least one year in 1.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a proactive approach to community projects.
  • Research and identify appropriate partners to strengthen community relationships.
  • Increase the Borough President’s visibility at community events.
  • Conduct outreach for activities including parades, block parties, schools, and faith-based organizations.
  • Report information about community issues to the Director and stakeholders; develop recommendations.
