    Work Setting: Remote

    Reports To: Director, Holocaust Survivor Programs

    Pay Rate: $18-$22/hour

    Total Compensation:

    In addition to standard pay, compensation for this position includes:

    Position Overview:

    JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Serving Our Survivors team as the Coordinator of Community Volunteer Engagement for the Orange County area. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your interpersonal and communication skills and community relations experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across Orange County. The Coordinator of Community Volunteer Engagement plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by recruiting, motivating and training community volunteers to participate in a wide variety of support services using a Person-Centered Trauma-Informed approach working directly with Holocaust survivors and a team of caring professionals. This position reports directly to the Director of Holocaust Survivor Programs and works closely with the Orange County SOS Care Managers and the rest of the SOS team.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate with Orange County SOS team to identify and develop volunteer support opportunities that address programmatic and client needs
    • Conduct outreach to recruit individual and group volunteers from the Orange County community
    • With guidance from the JFSSD Community and Volunteer Engagement Team, screen and onboard volunteers to meet all role qualifications
    • Train and supervise volunteers to ensure Person-Centered Trauma-Informed (PCTI) support to Holocaust survivors
    • Review potential SOS clients with SOS Program Manager and staff to aid in appropriate matches between volunteers and clients
    • Develop methods to solicit feedback from and recognize volunteers for maximum retention
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local Jewish community organizations to mobilize volunteers and identify potential community events to which survivors might be invited/hosted
    • Engage in professional and prompt communication with all stakeholders
    • Maintain accurate volunteer records in Galaxy Digital system with support from JFSSD Community and Volunteer Engagement team
    • Manage data entered by volunteers for care management and reporting purposes
    • Prepare monthly reports on volunteer engagement and support as required for Claims Conference and JFSSD impact reports
    • Observe and enforce all JFSSD and program policies and procedures, especially as they relate to HIPAA, Claims Conference, Volunteer Management (background checks, DMV checks, etc.)
    • Perform other duties as required, assigned or requested
    • Attend socialization events where volunteers are present

    Skills/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:

    • Knowledge of Jewish community and culture, specifically regarding Jewish Holocaust survivors
    • Knowledge of and experience working with Jewish communal organizations in Orange County
    • Ability to represent the agency and the Holocaust survivor programs to the Jewish community and the community at large
    • Experience working in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and client/volunteer database systems to ensure accuracy of records and data
    • Comfort using Zoom or similar tools to conduct virtual meetings and/or events
    • Strong verbal & interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
    • Patience in dealing with clients and family members (telephonically, electronically and/or in person)
    • Ability to operate effectively and collaboratively as part of a work team
    • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and anticipate next steps

    Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:

    • 1-2 years’ experience managing volunteers
    • Experience working with aging and/or vulnerable populations, including understanding of PCTI approach
    • Fluent or proficiency in Russian and/or European languages
