Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an energetic Community Support Officer to join a team in George. You will engage with community members, identify social needs, coordinate support services, and help implement development initiatives to foster resilient communities in the Western Cape region.

Key duties include liaising with government agencies and NGOs, delivering workshops, guiding outreach strategies, and providing information and referrals to those seeking social support.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field.
• Experience in community engagement, social work, or a similar support role.
• Strong understanding of community dynamics and development principles.
• Excellent organizational and project coordination skills.
• Proficiency in using standard office software and communication tools.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, and travel within the local area as needed.

Responsibilities

• Engage with community members to identify social needs and service gaps.
• Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of community support programs and workshops.
• Liaise with local government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to build partnerships.
• Assist in the development and implementation of community outreach strategies.
• Provide information and referrals to individuals seeking social assistance.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community programs and report on outcomes.
