Qualifications

• Knowledge is normally acquired with at least three (3) years of experience in law enforcement.
• High school graduate or GED required.
• Requires Basic Peace Officers license from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Intermediate Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to 911 calls for service; assess priority; drive to location; contact victims and witnesses; gather information; arrest suspects when appropriate; complete incident reports.
• Conducts preliminary investigations; identify incident type; locate victims and witnesses; collect evidence; obtain warrants.
• Performs self-initiated patrols; enforce traffic laws; identify quality of life issues; follow up on complaints; conduct property checks; serve subpoenas and warrants.
• Conducts traffic accident investigations; check injuries; clear roadways; interview involved parties; issue citations; follow up at medical facility.
• Appears in court; review reports; testify; assist in contacting witnesses.
• Maintains weapons and protective equipment; inspect gear; manage inventories; place orders.
• Provides a high level of customer service with tact and diplomacy; maintain confidentiality.
• Communicates effectively; build relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors; follow instructions.
• Maintains confidentiality of records and information per the Texas Public Information Act.
• Work independently in absence of supervision.
