Job summary

The City of Spring Valley Village seeks a Police Officer to protect life and property, respond to 911 calls, and enforce laws. You will patrol, investigate, and partner with residents and businesses to prevent crime.

You must meet Texas licensing requirements, be at least 21, read and write English, have a valid Texas driver’s license, and pass required safety and psychological evaluations. This role emphasizes professionalism and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Licensed by the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Standards and Education.
• Must read and write English.
• At the time of appointment, must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid Texas Driver's License at the time of appointment.
• Must pass a complete physical, audio examination, and drug test meeting all requirements.
• Must be examined by a licensed psychologist and declared in writing to be in satisfactory health to serve as a peace officer.
• Complete and submit personal history statement.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls with the ability to prioritize response.
• Writes complete and detailed police reports as necessary.
• Enforce Federal, State, and local laws; make arrests following proper procedures.
• Conduct thorough initial investigations and follow-up investigations as needed.
• Patrol duties; engage with residents and businesses; address quality of life issues.
• Attend meetings; compile reports; coordinate with other officers or detectives.
• Appear in court and assist in case preparation.
• Maintain weapons and equipment; inspect and inventory supplies.
• Work in a safe manner and report unsafe conditions.
• Work independently in the absence of supervision.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
