Summary

The Community Development Associate supports Cook Children’s Health Foundation by assisting in all areas of the National and Regional Partnerships Department. The Associate will build and maintain effective working relationships and establish rapport with key constituents to include employees, foundation staff, community partners and donors. The Community Development Associate will provide support for department fundraising initiatives including Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Community Partner Events. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintaining the database health for the department’s constituent records, assist in data needs and support Cook Children’s Health Foundation events and initiatives as needed. This position is unique because it provides strong opportunities to learn basic components of a comprehensive development program.

Donor Information Services

Community Development Associate will be responsible for completing Gift Processing Transmittal Forms and delivering financial gifts to DIS team. Responsible for tracking donations as directed by supervisor and work with the National & Regional Partnerships team for appropriate mailing and recognition lists. Work with the team to develop and maintain accurate contact lists for corporate partner and event contacts in internal database. Associate will be responsible for the migration of CMN to the RENXT database.

Children’s Miracle Network

Assist the CMN team with preparation and distribution of campaign promotional materials for corporate partners and events. Coordination of the internal volunteer team for campaign execution. Oversee campaign communication and collateral distribution for minor CMN partners. Responsible for working with the team to update online calendars to promote initiatives. Assist with planning, organization and attendance at special events as requested.

Department Communications

Work with the team to execute content and development of promotional messaging for foundation communication, social media, web site, cmnhospitals.org blog, internal communications and other available channels. Execute donor relations activities for individual cmnhospitals.org donors, as well as assist with acquisition list to build Cook Children’s donor pipeline.

Reporting and Data Entry

Responsible for accurately maintaining and filing all reports before deadline as required by Children’s Miracle Network including the quarterly Performance Metrics Report and annual Impact Survey. Manage department budget for program purchases, travel and expenses. Enter actions into Raiser’s Edge for team members as needed.

Event Logistics

Support team in coordination and scheduling of donor events, on and off campus, as directed. Assist team in ordering supplies and promotional materials. Assist in building Team Raiser / Luminate fundraising pages. Maintain department calendars for campaigns and events.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one to two years of experience working with comprehensive fundraising programs, communications programs or high-profile special events is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must have excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to draft letters and articles, as well as interact with donors, patients, families and the public.

Must be able to manage multiple tasks, as well as be self-motivated, flexible, work well under pressure and with a team.

High proficiency in the use of computer applications, organizational skills, customer relationship management and a willingness to learn new systems as necessary is crucial. Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other customer relationship management platforms is preferred.

Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
