Job summary

Cook Children's Health Care System is seeking an Associate Research Scientist to assist with project management and quality evaluations for investigator-initiated studies. The role involves study design, instrument development, data collection and reporting, with liaison duties to internal teams and external partners.

The candidate should have a healthcare or health sciences background, strong writing and communication skills, and familiarity with project management methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, social or health science, etc., with 1–3 years of relevant experience; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills are required.
  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented approach; strong interpersonal and oral/written/electronic communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with project management, review and develop quality evaluations for basic investigator-initiated studies.
  • Participate in study design, instrument development, data gathering and reporting.
  • Correlate and evaluate materials prepared by the project team; liaison with Cook Children’s and external entities as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with groups within Cook Children’s, other companies and agencies.

Location: Medical Center Office Building (901 7th Ave) Department: Clinical and Translational Science Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Standard Weekly Hours: 40

Summary: The Associate Research Scientist assists with project management and is responsible for reviewing, proposing, developing and conducting quality evaluations; as well as participating in study design, instrument development, data gathering, and reporting for basic investigator-initiated studies. Other duties involve correlating and evaluating material prepared by the project team, performing customer contact and liaison functions as necessary, and developing and maintaining mutually satisfactory relationships with groups within Cook Children’s, other companies, and federal and state agencies. An oncology background would be a plus as the candidate for this position would be working with the Endowed Chair team assigned to Dr. Ray: Endowed Chair: Precision Medicine Program led by Anish Ray, M.D. | Cook Children’s

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field (e.g., healthcare, social or health science, etc.) and 1-3 years of relevant professional experience. A Master’s degree with relevant professional experience is preferred.

Position requires an individual with:

  • Computer proficiency in word processing and Excel
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Strong organizational skills and be detail oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral, written, and electronic interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with project management methodologies preferred
  • Knowledge of research and medical terminology, grant writing and governmental rules and regulations preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of operational, logistical and administrative requirements of research studies preferred
