Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking a Dentist to provide comprehensive, patient-centered dental care for American Indian communities in South Dakota. The role involves handling complex cases, coordinating with medical colleagues, and contributing to health equity and community well-being.

Responsibilities include examinations, treatment planning, restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and emergencies, with emphasis on preventive education and culturally competent care.

Qualifications

• DDS/DMD or equivalent degree from an accredited program.
• Current dental license to practice in the United States.
• Experience providing comprehensive dental care and emergency services.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive dental care including examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, restorations, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and emergencies.
• Independently manage complex dental conditions and coordinate with medical providers for medically complex patients.
• Deliver patient education and preventive care, explaining options, risks, and aftercare while addressing diverse cultural needs.
• Offer consultation to healthcare providers and staff on dental health and its impact on overall health.
• Maintain clinical records, participate in quality improvement, infection control, and program operations.
