Job summary

Ocean Health Initiatives (OHI) is seeking a Dentist to provide comprehensive dental care in accordance with professional standards and OHI policies. You will diagnose, treat, and educate patients while documenting thoroughly in EMR and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Requirements include an accredited dental degree, active NJ license, CDS/DEA licenses, and 3–5 years of general dentistry experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Dentistry.
• Active New Jersey Dental License is required.
• CDS and DEA Licenses to prescribe and maintain controlled substances are required.
• BLS for providers through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Works cooperatively with all providers and staff to carry out the goals and objectives of OHI according to established policies and procedures.
• Assists with the development, implementation, and monitoring of clinic policies, procedures and protocols as needed to achieve OHI goals and objectives.
• Attends and actively participates in departmental and medical staff meetings as required.
• Supports health center colleagues with internal referrals when clinically appropriate.
• Provides oral health assessment, diagnosis and treatment as clinically indicated.
• Ensures documentation in the oral health record justifies prescribed treatment and includes findings/progress, orders, and care plan.
• Provides general dentistry care for all individuals without regard to ability to pay.
• Advises patients on dental care education issues when needed.
• Completes paperwork for billing and medical records within 24 hours of visits.
• Protects patient's oral health by diagnosing and treating diseases, injuries, abnormalities of teeth and gums, and preventive procedures.
• Advises patients on good health practices.
• Uses clinical judgment in referrals to specialists as required and per insurance restrictions.
• Performs procedures on patients in need and works to ensure high quality, cost effective care.
• Plans and implements policies and systems to ensure compliance with regulatory mandates.
• Active participant in OHI's Performance Improvement Process and meetings.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with dentists, physicians, and health care staff.
• Works in various settings such as office, mobile van, etc.
• Provides consultation and guidance to dental staff to ensure continuity and quality of services.
• Maintains high level of professional skills and knowledge.
• Strives for patient satisfaction through caring and clear communication.
• Presents information to patients at an educational level they understand.
• Listens to patient concerns and resolves or refers appropriately.
• Adheres to treatment protocols as developed.
• Respects patient rights, privacy and dignity.
• Complies with ADA Code of Ethics.
• Participates in safety programs including Emergency Response Team.
• Completes mandatory in-services and meetings required by administration.
• Collaborates with senior management to resolve challenges.
