Job summary

Kindly Direct Care is seeking a caring Direct Support Professional to provide one-to-one support to an adult with developmental disabilities in Toms River, NJ. The role focuses on companionship, participation in community activities, and fostering greater independence.

You will help with community outings, errands, appointments, and social opportunities, while encouraging decision-making and self-advocacy. A valid driver's license is required and schedule must be adhered to.

Qualifications

• Experience in Direct Support/ caregiving is helpful but not required.
• Able to reliably work the posted schedule.
• Comfortable providing support in home and community settings.
• Valid driver's license and vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one companionship and person-centered support.
• Help the individual participate in community activities such as bowling and beach outings.
• Support errands, appointments, recreation, volunteering, and social opportunities.
• Encourage independence, communication, decision-making, self-advocacy, and life skills.
• Assist with goals identified in the service plan.
• Provide reminders and routine support as required by the case.
• Maintain safety and follow individualized support instructions.
• Complete required documentation and communicate with the Kindly team.

What You’ll Do

• Provide one-to-one companionship and person-centered support.

• Help the individual participate in community activities such as going bowling and to the beach

• Support errands, appointments, recreation, volunteering, social opportunities, or other community activities as applicable.

• Encourage independence, communication, decision‑making, self‑advocacy, and life skills.

• Help the individual work toward goals identified in the service plan.

• Provide reminders, routine support, or light assistance as required by the case.

• Maintain safety and follow individualized support instructions.

• Complete required documentation and communicate reliably with the Kindly team.

• Warm, patient, dependable, and genuinely interested in building a consistent relationship.

• Able to reliably work the posted schedule.

• Comfortable supporting an adult one-to-one in home and community settings.

• Valid driver's license and vehicle

• DSP, mentoring, education, recreation, human services, or caregiving experience is helpful but may not be required for this assignment.

Schedule: Mon & Thurs 7-9amPay: $17-$21/hourLocation: Toms River, NJDriving on shift: Required

Placement is subject to screening, onboarding, training, and mutual fit with the individual/family.
