Job summary

Warroad Community Childcare Center is seeking a passionate Director to lead our team and support our mission of providing safe, nurturing, and enriching care for local children in Minnesota. The Director will oversee high-level operations, licensing compliance, curriculum alignment, and staff development.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• License from the Minnesota Department of Education for Early Childhood OR Elementary Education with a kindergarten endorsement.
• Enroll in Develop: The Minnesota Quality Improvement & Registry Tool to complete required PD and trainings.
• Have hours of paid or unpaid staff supervision experience.

Responsibilities

• Program policy development, knowledge, and enforcement.
• Work with Board of Directors to create/update policies, forms, and parent handbook.
• Provide leadership to all center staff/volunteers, including internal training and performance management.
• Ensure licensing guidelines compliance and MDH food service requirements.
• Oversee classroom structure, schedules, attendance, and staff interactions with children/parents.
• Develop or identify curriculum and child assessment programs aligning with MN licensing and Parent Aware.
• Assist with student behavior guidance and maintain licensing records.
• Create and monitor budget; coordinate fundraising with the Board.
• Enrollment management and communication related to inquiries and waiting lists.
• Event coordination and enrichment program planning with staff.
• Develop communication tools for teachers/parents; address developmental concerns.
• Media and facility management; ensure health and safety standards.
• Manage the food program requirements as outlined by the state.
• Staff acquisition, including advertising, interviewing, hiring, and training.
• Complete MN licensing background checks including fingerprints and photographs.
