Job summary

City of Portland is seeking a Community Center Site Programmer II to support recreation programs in Portland, Maine. The role includes greeting visitors, scheduling spaces, and assisting with events and rentals, with emphasis on safety and excellent service.

The position requires delivering quality customer interactions, coordinating activities, and maintaining records in MyRec software, while upholding park rules and policies. Union position with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain order and enforce rules in a positive atmosphere.
• Knowledge of recreational activities and ability to direct them.
• Initiative and willingness to learn additional activities.
• Valid Class C driver's license with good driving record.
• Must have and maintain First Aid / CPR / AED certifications or obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and provide program information in person or via phone/email.
• Prepare rooms and set up equipment for classes, meetings, and events.
• Monitor areas, enforce facility rules, and manage opening/closing procedures.
• Collect fees and keep records in MyRec software.
