Job summary

Harris County Precinct 4 in Houston is seeking a Community Center Assistant Manager to support leadership, administration, and operations of a new Alief Area community center.

You will act as second-in-command to the Community Center Manager, oversee day-to-day operations, develop programs, supervise staff, and ensure high-quality experiences for participants and partners.

The role requires strong judgment, independent decision-making, and flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 3+ years professional experience or some college/2+ years related experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and independent decision-making in operations or programs.
• Bilingual proficiency preferred; experience in recreation, community engagement, or facility operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as second-in-command to the Community Center Manager with full decision-making authority in their absence.
• Manage day-to-day center operations, staff direction, scheduling, safety, and facility needs.
• Develop, design, and evaluate new programs, classes, and curriculum to meet community needs.
• Coordinate with internal departments for facility maintenance and special initiatives.
• Coach, train, and mentor staff; participate in interviews and hiring recommendations.
