Job summary

The St. Louis Arc, a nonprofit in St. Louis, MO, seeks a Community Behavioral Specialist to empower adults with intellectual disabilities by teaching life skills and supporting participation in community activities.

The role requires compassion, reliable transportation, and the ability to work Mon-Fri during daytime hours. The organization offers support, training, and a collaborative environment with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • One or more years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, challenging behaviors, and/or dual diagnosis.
  • Experience implementing behavior support strategies is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 21 years old and three years of driving experience.
  • Reliable vehicle (4 seat belts and working heating/cooling) with valid driver’s license and auto insurance at time of hire.
  • Ability to multitask and make decisions independently (e.g., emergency calls).
  • Ability to complete CPR/FA, L1MA, and Mandt training (provided by St. Louis Arc at no cost)

  • Assist one to two adult participants in planning a day full of activities (e.g. bowling, local park) that matches their interests and goals.
  • Transport individuals to and from activities in the St. Louis metropolitan area using your personal vehicle.
  • Assist participants with personal care, including but not limited to, restroom breaks, meals, and dressing.
  • Maintain an understanding of participants’ Individual Support Plans and implementation practices.
  • Implement behavior support plans to enhance adaptive behaviors and diminish challenging behaviors.
  • Complete community events reports, medication administration records, progress notes, and other required documentation according to agency and funder timelines

This is a full-time (32.5 hours/week) Monday - Friday position working 8:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. Community Behavioral Specialists earn an hourly rate of $23/hour

What you will do:
