Job summary

The City of Manvel is seeking an Animal Control Officer to patrol the city and enforce animal control ordinances. This position falls under the City of Manvel Police Department’s Animal Control Division.

You will respond to citizen complaints, investigate animal bite and cruelty cases, impound animals as needed, and educate the public about animal welfare. The role requires strong communication, good judgment, and the ability to handle challenging situations, including emergencies.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Animal Control Certification or completion of required course within one year of employment
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a clear driving record.
• Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with the general public.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the City, impound stray animals or animals in violation of City ordinance, and enforce animal code violations.
• Respond to and investigate citizen complaints on animal bite and cruelty cases, and prepare documentation necessary to impound animals
• Cite citizens in violation of City animal control ordinances.
• Proactively educate the public on animal control.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
