Job summary

Illinois Central College is seeking a Communications Specialist to join the ICC Communications team at the East Peoria campus. Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammatical, copywriting, and editing skills.
• Ability to organize work and set priorities in order to meet deadlines.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality with all levels of staff.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and proofread internal College communications, including emails, texts, web content, scripts, magazine articles, blogs, video, and other assigned projects.
• Maintain a consistent brand and voice throughout all projects and ensure adherence to ICC Brand Standards.
• Assist in writing and sending communication out of various platforms including CRM (Slate).
• Coordinate interviews with current students and alumni to write feature stories.
• Assist with the compilation, proofing, and final document preparation of institutional reports, accreditation materials, and faculty resources, including highly sensitive and confidential materials.
• Ensure systematic organization of all communication pieces.
• Conceptualize, shoot, and edit high-quality video content to drive public engagement, streamline internal communications, and support overarching digital marketing strategies across all institutional channels.

Summary:

The Communications Specialist will work as a critical member of the ICC Communications team to develop, coordinate, and implement internal communication strategies and tactics for traditional and digital channels. Working directly with Marketing, this position will help execute marketing strategies, internal communications and tactics, and will assist with media relations for all web, print and digital communications. Compensation for the Communications Specialist is $50,377.60-$56,680.00 annually.

Essential Functions:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in communications, marketing, agency, public relations, or related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammatical, copywriting, and editing skills.
• Ability to organize work and set priorities in order to meet deadlines.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality with all levels of staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in higher education.
• Experience in WordPress.
• Experience using a CRM or mass email distribution software.
• Knowledge of Associated Press writing guidelines.
