Job summary

Illinois Central College is seeking a part-time Testing Specialist to join the Testing Center team at the East Peoria and Peoria campuses. The role focuses on administering a variety of individual and group tests, with hours typically Monday through Friday 8am–4:30pm and averaging about 29 hours per week.

Responsibilities include proctoring placements (Accuplacer, HESI), other ICC placement tests (BIO 205, Spanish, Music Theory), and handling test-related inquiries by phone, email, or in person.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; strong computer skills and MS Office proficiency.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to read fluently and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Proctor and schedule ICC proctored tests (make-up, accommodated).
• Load score data into the student management system.
• Provide test-related inquiries in person, by phone, mail, or email.
• Support weekend and evening testing as needed.

Position Title: PT Specialist - Testing Campus: Peoria Campus Employment Type: Classified, StaffPart time Department: Testing Start Date: 09/10/2026 Job Description: Summary As a member of the Division of Student Success at Illinois Central College, the Testing Specialist is essential in fostering positive student interactions, enhancing student-centered processes, cultivating a sense of belonging, and collaborating to support student success. Reporting directly to the Testing Administration Manager their focus is on performing testing administration duties by administering a variety of individual and group tests at both the East Peoria and Peoria Testing Centers. The Specialist may be asked to work an occasional weekend and evening as needed. This position helps to advance departmental and divisional goals while supporting the college’s overall mission and strategic priorities. Hours for this position will fall within Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm. Averaging to be about 29 hours a week. This position will remain open till filled. Compensation for the Testing Specialist is $18.08-20.34 an hour.

Essential Functions

• Facilitate student success by offering personalized support, guiding students to resources, and acknowledging each students' unique story.
• Enhance student success by identifying and providing feedback on process improvements and utilizing data as needed to ensure that resources and services effectively meet student needs.
• Support student success by collaborating to ensure coordinated efforts in addressing student needs and enhancing overall outcomes.
• Advance student success by engaging in ongoing professional development and growth opportunities to stay current with best practices and effectively address evolving student needs.
• Administer Placement testing for curriculum and course placement i.e. Accuplacer, HESI.
• Orchestrate other ICC placement tests i.e. BIO 205, Spanish, Music Theory.
• Conduct testing for business and industry i.e ACT WorkKeys, Mechanical Reasoning, Mechanical Aptitude.
• Facilitate pre and post testing for the Adult Education department i.e. CASAS.
• Complete training, maintain certification exams, state proficiency exams, and credit by exam through multiple testing.
• Administer professional certification exams, state proficiency exams, and credit by exam through multiple testing platforms i.e. PearsonVue, Certiport, PSI, CLEP, DSST, Meazure Learning.
• Serve as a liaison between faculty and students to assist with the administration, coordination, and scheduling of ICC proctored exams i.e. make-up, accommodated.
• Process and proctor extension tests from other schools i.e. ALEKS-PPL.
• Assist Access Service staff by monitoring extra time, reading exams aloud, typing, dictating, and/or scribing for students as needed.
• Load score information into our student management system.
• Invigilate weekend and evening testing as needed i.e. ACT, CNA, SAT.
• Assist with scheduling and all inquiries regarding test-related questions in person and by phone, mail, and e-mail.
• Provide daily support in all aspects of the Testing Center, as needed i.e. assisting with new proctor training.
• Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree.
• Strong computer skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong reading skills including the ability to fluently read aloud.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Direct experience in a Higher Education testing environment.
