Job summary

The University at Buffalo is seeking a Communications Manager for the GLRC STREAM project at the RENEW Institute. This role translates complex Great Lakes research into accessible content for policymakers, stakeholders, and the public, while managing newsletters and website materials.

You will liaise with DEC and other agencies, prepare reports, and support education by adapting materials for K-12 curricula. A strong editing background and 2–3 years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical/natural sciences, scientific/technical writing, or relevant fields
• Must have 2–3 years of related experience
• Strong ability to translate scientific research into clear, engaging content
• Demonstrated editing skills
• Preferred: graduate degree, 5+ years experience, ecosystem expertise, digital content creation, social media growth, and project management skills

Responsibilities

• Translate GLRC scientists' research into accessible content for policymakers, stakeholders, and the public
• Write and distribute a bi-annual newsletter
• Manage GLRC STREAM website content
• Prepare reports for DEC review and liaise with DEC, federal, international entities, and consortium universities
• Assist GLRC Program Manager with drafting solicitations for Small Grants program
• Support education by adapting research materials for K-12 curricula
