Job summary

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company (EBAD) in Simsbury, CT, invites college students to join its 2027 summer internship program as Internal Communications Interns. This 12-week program offers hands-on experience drafting and shaping communications for EBAD's teams and brands.

As an intern you will create content for newsletters, SharePoint and digital channels, support EBAD Beacon, and help with events, storytelling, and branding across EBAD's sites.

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in Communications/PR/Marketing/Graphic Design.
• Strong writing/editing and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage deadlines and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Draft internal newsletters, digital signage, SharePoint, Teams, presentations.
• Support EBAD Beacon content: gathering content, drafting articles, organizing photos, layouts.
• Create/update graphics, signage, templates, visuals, and other materials.
• Support employee engagement, culture, recruiting, and HR communications campaigns.
• Drafting, editing, proofreading, and formatting employee communications.
• Assist with internal events, employee features, photography, storytelling.
• Maintain communication calendars, project trackers, timelines, content submissions, approvals.
• Ensure communications are clear, engaging, consistent, and aligned with EBAD branding.
• Collaborate across EBAD's three sites and with HR on employee-facing initiatives.

Job Description

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace and Defense Company is seeking talented college students to join our 2027 summer internship program. Our 12-week internship program is designed to provide real-world and hands-on experience in areas that interest you! As an intern, you will collaborate with industry experts to solve real-world challenges and change the way we do business.

Internal Communications Interns

will work to support all aspects of employee communications and engagement including, but no limited to:

• Developing content for internal newsletters, digital signage, SharePoint, Teams, presentations, and other communication channels
• Supporting the development of the EBAD Beacon by gathering content, drafting articles, organizing photos, and assisting with layouts
• Creating and updating graphics, signage, templates, newsletter visuals, and other creative materials
• Supporting employee engagement, recognition, culture, recruiting, and HR communications campaigns

Responsibilities/daily Duties

• Drafting, editing, proofreading, and formatting employee-facing communications
• Assisting with internal events, employee features, photography, and storytelling opportunities
• Maintaining communication calendars, project trackers, timelines, content submissions, and approvals
• Helping ensure communications are clear, engaging, consistent, and aligned with EBAD branding
• Supporting communications across EBAD's three sites and collaborating with HR and other teams on employee-facing initiatives

Requirements

• Robust projects with positive business impact Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field. discipline.
• Strong writing, editing, organizational, and communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Experience with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, photography, video, or other visual content tools is preferred

Candidates are encouraged to include a portfolio or examples of previous work with their application. Work samples may include writing, graphic design, presentations, digital content, newsletters, social media content, signage, photography, video, or relevant class projects.
