Job summary

CECC in Missouri seeks a Communications/Development Coordinator to drive fundraising, community engagement, and enrollment support. You’ll partner with the Executive Director, staff, and the Board to build relationships and promote our mission.

The role requires coordinating campaigns, producing newsletters, managing website content, handling events, and ensuring confidential handling of records while occasionally supporting evenings and weekends for special events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, education, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities independently.
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events.
  • Experience working with a nonprofit or education-focused organization is a plus.

About This Role

The Communications/Development Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising campaigns, promoting our school to the public, informing and fostering community among existing school families, and helping to sustain enrollment. The Coordinator will work full-time (40 hours/week), flexible hours during the school week, but may need to be available occasionally in the evenings and on weekends as needed for special events. The coordinator will work with the Executive Director, administrative team, and Board of Directors.

What You'll Do
Fundraising
  • Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan, including annual trivia night/auction, with input from Executive Director and the Board of Directors
  • Maintain and strengthen existing donor relationships and corporate contacts, and identify potential donors through outreach and relationship building
  • Identify and facilitate grant applications
  • Coordinate all fundraising activities, and oversee all record keeping related to fundraising and development, including recognition of donors
Communications
  • Produce a monthly newsletter and weekly classroom updates in coordination with lead teachers
  • Produce community-wide communications in collaboration with administrative team
  • Maintain and develop website content
  • Create classroom yearbooks and other mementos
  • Supervise the planning and implementation of special events
  • Promote awareness of CECC and its mission through various channels
  • Identify opportunities to recruit new families
  • Provide opportunities for volunteer engagement, and provide guidance to volunteers
  • Represent CECC at community functions and events
  • Manage marketing and communications budget and reporting with oversight from Executive Director & Board of Directors
Enrollment
  • Teams with the Director in the entire enrollment process, including answering questions, applications, waitlist, intake (sending acceptance letters, receiving and filling registration and enrollment forms), notifying Lead Teachers of pending new students.
  • Maintain a filing system for student records
General
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of the organization’s internal affairs
  • Establish and maintain effective professional working relations with parents, staff, Board of Directors and community
  • Demonstrate flexibility and respond quickly and positively to shifting demands
  • Participate in other duties as assigned by the Director and Board of Directors
Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, use stairs, and get up and down from the floor
  • Must pass background check, fingerprinting, and child abuse and neglect registry
  • Obtain physical and TB test
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, education, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities independently
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events
Nice to Have
  • Experience in early childhood education, schools, nonprofits, or other mission-driven organizations
  • Fundraising, grant writing, or donor relations experience
  • Experience with social media, email marketing, and website content
  • Proficiency with Canva or similar design tools
  • Event planning or community engagement experience
  • Photography, videography, or basic graphic design skills
  • Familiarity with St. Louis-area community organizations and businesses
  • Experience working with a Board, volunteers, or community partners
  • Previous child care experience
