Job summary

The Children’s Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf (CCCBSD) seeks a skilled communications professional to lead marketing, fundraising communications, and community engagement from our Beverly, MA location.

You will develop and implement content strategies, produce photos, video, and written materials, and manage digital channels. Collaboration with teams and ASL learning are valued as part of our inclusive culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years in communications, marketing, PR, nonprofit advancement, or related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, verbal communication, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience creating digital and print marketing materials.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive communication.
  • Willingness to learn ASL; CCCBSD provides classes.

Responsibilities

Schedule

This position generally follows a Monday–Friday daytime schedule with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities for fundraising events, school activities, conferences, and community engagement. CCCBSD values work-life balance and is open to discussing scheduling options, including a school-year schedule with additional workdays or a comparable year-round schedule based on organizational needs and the successful candidate.

Salary: $55,000 to $75,000 Per Year

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement communication and marketing strategies that support CCCBSD's mission, fundraising efforts, and community engagement.
  • Create compelling written, visual, photographic, video, and digital content for families, donors, alumni, board members, and the broader community.
  • Manage CCCBSD's website, social media platforms, newsletters, email communications, and editorial calendars.
  • Ensure consistent branding, messaging, accessibility, and culturally responsive communication across all platforms.
  • Capture school events, classroom activities, and community engagement through photography, video, and storytelling.
  • Coordinate communication plans and promotional materials for fundraising campaigns, annual appeals, special events, conferences, and community outreach.
  • Partner with the Director of Advancement on donor communications, annual reports, stewardship initiatives, and marketing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strategic social media and content calendars while monitoring engagement analytics.
  • Collaborate across departments to gather stories, photos, and content that celebrate student success and organizational impact.
  • Coordinate website updates, email marketing campaigns, conference materials, brochures, advertisements, and promotional collateral.
  • Build meaningful relationships with families, alumni, donors, volunteers, community organizations, and professional partners.
  • Represent CCCBSD at internal and external events in a professional, mission-driven manner.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Three to five years of professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit advancement, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, verbal communication, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience creating digital and print marketing materials.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive communication.
  • Willingness to learn American Sign Language (ASL). CCCBSD provides ASL classes for staff.
  • Knowledge of the Deaf community, nonprofit organizations, educational environments, or mission-driven organizations preferred.
  • Experience supporting fundraising, donor communications, or advancement initiatives preferred.
  • Comfort working occasional evenings and weekends for fundraising and community events.
Required Technology Experience
  • Microsoft 365: Word and Excel
  • Google Workspace: Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Calendar
  • WordPress or similar website content management systems: Website content updates and page editing
  • Canva or similar graphic design platforms: Social media graphics, flyers, presentations, and print materials
  • Zoom or similar virtual meeting platforms: Meetings, webinars, screen sharing, recording, and collaboration
  • Meta Business Suite or similar social media management tools: Facebook and Instagram scheduling, insights, and messaging
Preferred Technology Experience
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Premiere Pro, InDesign, and/or Photoshop for professional graphic design, photo editing, and video production
  • CapCut or similar video editing software: Short-form video creation, social media content, and promotional materials
  • Email marketing platforms: Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar tools for newsletters, email campaigns, and audience communications
  • CRM software: Bloomerang or other constituent/donor management systems
  • Race Roster or similar event registration platforms: Event registration management and participant communications
  • YouTube Studio: Uploading, managing, and optimizing school videos and digital content
  • Linktree or similar social media landing page tools: Creating and managing resource links and campaign pages
  • ApprovalMax or similar purchasing/invoice approval workflow systems: Managing internal approvals and administrative processes
Accessible Digital Content Experience

Experience creating accessible digital content, including captions, alt text, accessible documents, and inclusive digital design practices, is highly valued.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This position is based on-site and includes regular interaction with students, families, staff, donors, and community members. Responsibilities include attending school and fundraising events, capturing photography and video, moving throughout campus, and representing CCCBSD at conferences and community activities.

The successful candidate should be able to lift and transport up to 40 pounds of event materials and equipment and work occasional evenings and weekends in support of fundraising events, community engagement, and organizational initiatives.

Participation in emergency preparedness drills, including fire drills, lockdowns, and evacuation procedures, is required. CCCBSD provides reasonable accommodations to ensure accessibility and success in the role.
