The Communications Coordinator, Center of Faith and Justice (CFJ), McCourt School of Public Policy is responsible for developing and implementing a multifaceted communications strategy designed to support the mission and strategic objectives of the Center on Faith and Justice. The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for media relations, external partners, and vendors connected with public facing events and programming. The Communications Coordinator will support our efforts to amplify the organization's voice and mission. This position will oversee social media strategy, earned media, graphic design, podcast production, and content research. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Faculty Director, the Communications Coordinator will play a pivotal role in shaping CFJ's public presence and storytelling to engage diverse audiences, including faith communities, policymakers, and the broader public. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Build and execute a cross platform communications strategy for the Center including using the website, podcast, Substack, email newsletters, and social media accounts.
  • Conduct research to support CFJ's communication materials, ensuring content aligns with the organization's values and goals.
  • Develop and execute CFJ's social media strategy across platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Bluesky Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
  • Help with the design, organization, and promotion of the Center's events and programming.
  • Draft press releases, media advisories, and op-eds to secure coverage for CFJ's events, reports, and initiatives.
  • Pitch to national and local press outlets.
  • Oversee GA and UG work study students communications work.


Work Interactions

The Communications Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director and supervises part-time student workers. The Communications Coordinator represents the Center of Faith and Justice and collaborates with other McCourt School staff, other units within McCourt and the wider University community including the Office of the President, Office of Advancement, Office of Strategic Communications, and external partners.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree
  • 2-4 years' experience with an emphasis on writing, content creation, media relations, social media, and communications management and strategy required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and executive decision making when interacting with internal and external clients and individuals, including prominent media, faith, and political leaders
  • Must have experience and confidence working with issues related to faith and politics
  • Ability to work independently, assuming responsibility, prioritizing and carrying out duties without supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, and personnel management experience
  • Experience in faith or political communications preferred
  • Experience with organizing events and panel discussions preferred
  • Strong research, writing and copy-editing skills required
  • Experience with social media platforms
  • Experience with WordPress
  • Basic video editing skills
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)
  • Experience working with podcasts preferred

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$41,926.00 - $65,090.00

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
