Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee's Planetarium is seeking a Communications Coordinator to blend science outreach with creative marketing. This part-time position offers about 15 hours per week with a mix of in-person and remote work.

The ideal candidate has strong writing, editing and Canva design skills, plus the ability to manage newsletters, social media, events, and campus outreach with excellent organization and attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Must be graduating December 2027 or later
  • Demonstrated writing skills in a variety of formats (e.g., email, social media, website)
  • Experience using Canva or similar software
  • Experience using Microsoft software including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Some weekday and occasional Friday night/weekend availability
  • Interest in astronomy or science
  • Excellent independent time management and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work with a team, receive constructive feedback, and make timely revisions

Responsibilities

The UWM Planetarium is searching the cosmos for a Communications Coordinator ready to apply their skills in creative marketing and science communication. Wage

The starting hourly wage is $14 per hour, with potential for a raise after 6 months.
