### OverviewThe Communications & Advancement Specialist supports the implementation of Native Governance Center's (NGC) advancement and communications strategy by developing and coordinating compelling, culturally grounded communications that help strengthen relationships, increase visibility, and advance NGC's mission. This position serves as a key communication resource for the organization, including responsibility for content development/management, digital communications, brand management, advancement campaigns, audience engagement, sponsor management, communication systems, and performance evaluation. The Specialist will develop and implement clear communication plans and practices that reflect the values of NGC. This position will also support fundraising through individual donor campaign management. The Specialist will report to the Director of Advancement and Strategy. The role requires being able to travel up to 20% of the time and have access to high-speed internet with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment. **Who We Are** Native Governance Center is a Native-led nonprofit dedicated to assisting Native nations in strengthening their governance systems and capacity to exercise sovereignty. While originally founded to support the 23 Native nations sharing geography with Mni Sota Makoce, North Dakota, South Dakota, NGC has strategically piloted growth beyond this region to include the 4 nations in Nebraska and hopes to continue to expand offerings with thoughtfulness toward needs identified by communities. NGC opened its doors in 2016, so it is relatively young, and is constantly growing, changing, and innovating. Everything NGC does is driven by its values, from organizational development to program delivery to deciding on its annual group Halloween costume. The team is collaborative in its approach, listening to input from its team, its nations, and the research it was founded on, to inform actions and decisions. NGC encourages respectful candor, authenticity, and balance on its team. **Work Environment** Since 2020, NGC has operated as a fully remote workplace, with team members located across various Tribal Nations and states. This model has allowed NGC to build a dedicated and geographically diverse team. However, NGC also acknowledges the limitations of a purely virtual environment for the human connection and collaboration that comes with in-person interaction. As such, there will be positions within NGC that require a hybrid work model that will incorporate both remote work and in-person opportunities, likely involving some in-person events and potential travel. A reliable, high-speed internet connection remains a requirement for all NGC employees. NGC is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing a work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity and are free from all forms of harassment and discrimination. **About the Position** Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions. The following list is not designed to comprise a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required for this job.
