Job summary

Mother Nation is seeking a Communications Manager to oversee visibility and engagement with our community, stakeholders, and the public. As part of our management team, you will shape communication strategies, create compelling content, and ensure consistent messaging across platforms.

This position will support the Spirit Journey Healing Village National capital campaign. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years in a nonprofit communications role, strong writing, CMS and social media proficiency,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a communications role, preferably nonprofit.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and content management systems.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and issues is highly desirable.
  • Passionate about Mother Nation’s mission and values.
  • Creative and innovative thinker.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse groups

Responsibilities

  • Supervision to communication team members.
  • Develop and manage content for social media, newsletters, press releases, and the organization’s website.
  • Oversee and grow Mother Nation’s social media presence, including content scheduling, engagement, and analytics.
  • Prepare electronic newsletters to engage community, donor and finding networks.
  • Coordinate media outreach and build relationships with journalists and influencers.
  • Assist events team in promoting Mother Nation annual and quarterly events.
  • Ensure communications align with mission, vision, values and brand.
  • Collaborate with team members to support fundraising, advocacy, and program initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned

Position: Communications Manager Hybrid Opportunity

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Hours: Full-Time, Hybrid

Salary: $30 per hour

JOB SUMMARY

Mother Nation is an Indigenous led non-profit organization offering culturally informed healing services, mobile advocacy, mentorship, homeless prevention case management, and support to MMIR families' unmet needs. Our services celebrate and inspire the success of Native American women and families. Mother Nation services are custom designed to honor the beauty and strength of Native women and families with traditional practices, teachings and values built on the ancestral strength of each relative. Mother Nation is committed to always provide culturally based traditional teachings throughout all service areas.

Mother Nation goals are to ensure healing and wellness with cultural resilience offering quality service to change the dynamics of Native women and families, including single dads from the impacts of historical and intergenerational trauma.

The successful candidate will be provided excellent training opportunities with traditional teachings, career advancement, ceremonial leave, and a comprehensive health benefits package. This position is considered temporary with a potential of full time employment as funding allows.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Communications Manager will oversee and enhance Mother Nation’s visibility and engagement with our community, stakeholders, and the public. As part of our management team, this position involves managing our communication strategies, creating compelling content, and ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms. This position will support the Spirit Journey Healing Village National capital campaign.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to support fundraising, advocacy, and program initiatives.
