Job summary

Pinion is seeking a Commodity Risk Management Consultant to help producers navigate volatile commodity markets while building risk management and market analytics expertise. You’ll support trading, manage cash contracts, and deliver data-driven insights for client presentations.

You will engage in on-farm or client-site visits, learn client relationship management, and participate in industry events to expand your network and expertise.

Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge or exposure to grain, livestock, or dairy markets (internships or academic experience welcome).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Detail-oriented mindset and willingness to learn commodity markets.
  • Comfort using data tools, CRM systems, and MS Office to analyze information for clients.
  • Ability to obtain a Series 3 license and/or Crop Insurance license within 60 days.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute risk management strategies using futures, options, crop insurance, and cash market tools.
  • Support trading physical grain, feed, and other commodities; manage cash contracts, logistics, and marketing/procurement strategies.
  • Analyze commodity market data to generate insights for client presentations.
  • Attend on-farm or client-site visits to build trust and deep relationships.
  • Work with senior consultants to learn client relationship management and risk advisory methodology.
  • Attend industry events and trainings to grow network and expertise.

What You’ll Be Doing

What You’ll Need for This Position

  • Detail oriented mindset and willingness to learn commodity markets.
  • Comfort using data tools, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office to analyze information and support client work.
  • Ability to interpret market information, ask smart questions, and develop sound recommendations as you grow in the role.
  • Ability to obtain a Series 3 license and/or Crop Insurance license within 60 days of employment.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 10% annually.

Compensation: In some states and municipalities, Pinion is required by law to include a reasonable estimate for range of compensation. When making compensation decisions, Pinion takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, certifications/licenses, and geographic location. The wide range for this role reasonably accounts for these factors. Specific compensation decisions are made based on the facts and circumstances of each case.

Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission. Target earnings range from $80,000 - $120,000, with significant upside for high performers.
